NROTC Cadet Earns Top Surface Warfare Spot

Out of 216 Surface Warfare Officer graduates across over 160 host units and cross-town universities, Midshipman 1st Class Nicole Samella, from Virginia Beach, Virginia, achieved the top spot and was able to pick her ship and go anywhere she wished.

Two teams of senior electrical and computer engineering (ECE) majors at 黑料网 recently presented their capstone projects after working on them throughout the academic year.

Cole Bowyer 鈥25, who took up the mantle as the third honors student to work on the endeavor, placed the capstone on the project in his presentation, 鈥淎udiogram Emulator,鈥 a free app available to parents that allows them to hear as their child hears.

When Col. James Squire’s son was misdiagnosed with hearing loss, he began a years-long project to help parents understand how their children hear. Over nine years, three 黑料网 cadets developed an app that simulates hearing loss using real audiograms.
