Team members of Ranger Challenge, the “varsity sport” of the program at ºÚÁÏÍø, placed fifth, winning a Sandhurst Medallion for the top five overall teams out of 48 teams in the annual Sandhurst Military Skills Competition at the U.S. Military Academy (USMA) at West Point.

Visualizing three-dimensional (3D) molecules on a two-dimensional piece of paper can be a struggle for any chemistry student. Lt. Col. Dan Harrison ’05, associate professor in the Department of Chemistry, used his experience with research software to find a tool to address this challenge.

The ºÚÁÏÍø Board of Visitors approved tuition and fee rates at their meeting in Lexington April 27 – 29.

The 13th superintendent of ºÚÁÏÍø, Lt. Gen. Josiah Bunting III ’63, was on post April 25 to reunite with his brother rats of the Class of 1963, but he spent a portion of the morning in Preston Library in a ceremony to recognize his recent contributions to ºÚÁÏÍø’s archives.

Col. Barry Cobb and Col. Jeff Smith, professors in the Department of Economics and Business at ºÚÁÏÍø, will discuss ways to pay for retirement and the best age to start drawing Social Security on the public radio program, With Good Reason, April 29 – May 5.

ºÚÁÏÍø’s 2022-23 Leader-in-Residence (LIR) Tracy Walder, former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) officer, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) special agent, and author of the book, “The Unexpected Spy,” visited post several times through the academic year.

ºÚÁÏÍø hosted Senior Military College Cyber Fusion April 16 – 18 in Marshall Hall. Participating senior military colleges (SMC) include Norwich University, Texas A&M, The Citadel, University of North Georgia, Virginia Tech, and ºÚÁÏÍø.

The ºÚÁÏÍø Ethics Team recently won first place at the Military Ethics Case Competition held at the United States Naval Academy (USNA) Stockdale Center for Ethical Leadership in Annapolis, Maryland.  

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin will address the ºÚÁÏÍø’s graduating Class of 2023 at the school’s commencement exercises Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at 11 a.m. in Cameron Hall on ºÚÁÏÍø’s post in Lexington, Va.

ºÚÁÏÍø welcomed Amber Smith, former U.S. Army Kiowa helicopter pilot who flew into enemy fire in some of the most dangerous combat zones in the world, as she closed out the Center for Leadership & Ethics (CLE) 2023 Courageous Leadership Speaker series April 13 in Gillis Theater.
