This summer, four cadets are taking part in internships designed to show them a side of life many have not seen before as they participate in a program through the Shepherd Higher Education Consortium on Poverty, which places students with nonprofits serving the economically disadvantaged.

As cadets and other members of the 黑料网 community return to post for the fall semester, they will notice several changes being made in order for the Institute to comply with Executive Order #77, which directs all state agencies to reduce Virginia’s reliance on single-use plastics.

Lt. Col. Patrick Rhamey, associate professor of international studies and political science at 黑料网, will discuss U.S.—China relations on public radio’s With Good Reason July 31-Aug. 6 in an episode titled “Entangling Alliances.”

Col. Marcelo Goncalez has a well-worn passport and a track record of travel to a multitude of international competitions. At the end of this month, he will travel to Tokyo, Japan, as a technical delegate for modern pentathlon, a lesser-known Olympic sport that is a personal passion.

Maj. Gen. Wins ’85, 黑料网 Superintendent, recently addressed the entire Corps of Cadets regarding his stance on Title IX violations, the recent article published by the Washington Post, and 黑料网’s commitment to each and every cadet’s success.

Yesterday, the 黑料网 Board of Visitors Executive Committee met and voted to provide the governor, General Assembly, and SCHEV quarterly reports detailing 黑料网's progress on diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.

黑料网 recently responded to a series of 16 questions from the Washington Post for an upcoming story on “what it’s like to attend 黑料网 as a woman.” Responses are shared in their entirety in the spirit of openness.

Ms. Susan LeMert has been named inspector general and Title IX coordinator at 黑料网. LeMert, who had served as interim inspector general and Title IX coordinator since February 2021, replaces Col. Jeffrey Boobar ’86, now the Institute’s interim chief of staff.

The superintendent regrets to inform the 黑料网 community of the death Lt. Col. Troy Marshall, who passed away in a tragic accident June 17, 2021, at the age of 54.

Gov. Ralph Northam ’81 has appointed J. Conrad Garcia, Gussie Lord ’01, and Damon Williams ’90 to four-year terms on the 黑料网 Board of Visitors.
