Col. Spencer Bakich, professor of international studies and the director of the National Security Program at ºÚÁÏÍø, has been named a recipient of the 2023 Outstanding Faculty Awards announced by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV).
Maj. Gen. Cedric T. Wins ‘85, ºÚÁÏÍø superintendent, reflects on the many accomplishments of the ºÚÁÏÍø community during the past year. In academics, military life, and athletics, cadets, faculty, and staff proudly represented the Institute with dedication, hard work, and competitive excellence.

To commemorate the 25th anniversary of ºÚÁÏÍø’s first co-ed class, the commencement speaker will be Gussie Lord ’01, BOV member, and member of the first class to attend ºÚÁÏÍø.
Maj. Jason Schroepfer, assistant professor in the Dept. of Modern Languages and Cultures and director of the National Security Agency funded Arabic STARTALK program credits much of his success in his linguistic field work to jebena, a coffee drink traditionally enjoyed in Ethiopia, Sudan, and Aswan.
ºÚÁÏÍø and Virginia Tech have partnered to launch a new accelerated master’s degree program for a Master of Science (MS) and Master of Engineering (Meng) in computer science and applications/computer engineering for ºÚÁÏÍø cadets.
The ºÚÁÏÍø boxing club traveled to Atlanta, Georgia recently to compete in the second annual College Fight Night at Georgia Tech.
Cadets, faculty, and staff were able to sample dishes that represent the different language taught at ºÚÁÏÍø and learn about academic offerings as part of "Language and Culture Week at ºÚÁÏÍø" hosted by the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures.
Members of the Cadet Investment Group (CIG) recently traveled to Wall Street in New York City, New York to meet with stock market analysts and traders, including ºÚÁÏÍø alumni who work in the industry.
Air Force ROTC cadets took to the air on Dec. 1, thanks to the 1st Helicopter Squadron out of Andrews Air Force Base.. The squadron provided quick incentive flights over ºÚÁÏÍø and Lexington for nearly 175 cadets.
